Stefanes moves from trustee to employee
On January 1, Sherry Stefanes resigned as Bloomfield Township
Trustee to take a staff position with the township's Adult Daycare
Service, where she had been a volunteer.  Sherry became the first
woman trustee in the township when she was appointed in 1995.
 
Sherry is a charter member of WON and served as its first secretary
from 1998-99 and then was our treasurer from 1999-2005.  She is
currently on the Nominating Committee.


Zack receives Outstanding Advocate Award
In October 2007, Helaine Zack, Oakland County Commissioner
(D-Huntington Woods), received an Outstanding Advocate Award from
the Easter Seals Society at the latter's annual convention in
Washington, D.C.  She was one of seven state and municipal officials to
receive the award and recognized "for being a courageous voice in
fighting to provide local mental health services and support to
individuals with mental disabilities."  Helaine has been a WON member
since 2002 and is currently chair of the Nominating Committee.


Beltramini elected vice president of Michigan Municipal
League (MML)
Last September, Troy City Councilwoman Robin Beltramini was
elected Vice President of the Michigan Municipal League at their annual
convention.  In addition to her involved with MML, she has also been
active with the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG)
and the National League of Cities.  She has been a member of WON
since 2002 and on the board since 2003.  Currently she is Second Vice
President (membership).
